Performing Career

Leslie has performed as a chamber and solo pianist throughout the UK, USA, Europe and Asia.  He has collaborated and recorded with international solo artists including the late American cellist Lynn Harrell, violinist Clio Gould, horn player Michael Thompson, cellist Kirstin Spencer, and formed the Szabo Trio with violinist Gabrielle Painter and cellist Ben Rogerson.  Leslie has appeared at major concert venues including London's Wigmore Hall, Beijing Concert Hall, Shannon International Music Festival, Endellion Festival, Chichester Festival Theatre, Conservatorio di Milano, The Kodaly Institute in Kecskemet, Festival de Pollenca, Palermo Opera House, Ehrbarsaal in Vienna and Teatro Communale, Bologna. Recorded output includes broadcasts for Italian Radio with Lynn Harrell and for Lyric FM with the Szabo Trio.  The Szabo Trio recorded a promotional CD at Champs Hill, West Sussex with the generous sponsorship of Dame Patricia Routledge DBE.

Teaching Career

Leslie's teaching career began in 1997.  Since then he has worked with many students, and teaching has formed a vital and rewarding aspect of his career.  He has taught on a private basis and also for the Bexley Music Service and Junior Guildhall School of Music & Drama, String Training Programme.  He was a grade and diploma examiner for ABRSM for twelve years, and undertook examining tours in mainland China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Bourneo, Malaysia, the USA, Luxembourg, Belgium and the UK.  Leslie led teacher workshops on behalf of ABRSM in Bangkok, Belgium and Malaysia.

Several of his students have gone on to study music at university, and some have very successful careers within the music industry.

Qualifications and DBS

Leslie began advanced studies with a Prestigious Entrance Scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music in 1993 where he was tutored by Professors Alexander Kelly, Tatiana Sarkissova and Hamish Milne.  He graduated in 1997 with a First Class Honours Degree and Teaching Diploma, and in 1999 was awarded a Post-graduate Diploma with Distinction in piano performance.  Among other awards, he received the Academy's Leslie England Piano Prize for an outanding final recital, and the Silver Medal of the Worshipful Company of Musicians in 1997.  He also studied with Belgian pianist Michel Block at the Bloomington School of Music, Indiana University, and with Professor Orsolya Szabo at the Kodaly Institute in Kecskemet, Hungary.

Leslie is a Fellow of the Independent Society of Musicians.
